Velma was born on January 18, 1926 in Montgomery County. She married Howard Bradley on August 21, 1948. They were married for 38 years until his passing. Their children are Ron and Nancy Bradley and daughter Crystal of St. Louis, MO; Pat and Dudley Baack and sons Jeff and Tim of Bloomfield, NE; and Curtis and Denise Bradley and children Matt, Nate, and Mikaela of Corning, IA.

She married Don Means on August 15, 1987. His children are Phil and Norma Garland, Carol Gilleland, and Stanley and Stacey Means all of Villisca, IA.

Velma is a homemaker. Her hobbies include reading, playing cards, baking and antiquing. She loves visits from her children, grandchildren, family, and friends.
