The Class of 1949 is celebrating their 60th Class Reunion in 2009. They will meet for dinner at The Bank on Friday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m. The Bank will be open all afternoon so you can come early and visit with classmates and other VHS alumns. A Sunday morning breakfast is also being planned. Cost for the Friday dinner is $15.50. The VHS Class of 1953 (The Gray Jays) will convene on Friday July 3, 2009 for a 55 + 1 Reunion at the Picnic Shelter at Viking Lake. A early afternoon catered picnic lunch is planned.

The Class of 1955 will have a "get-to-gether" on Saturday evening July 4, 2009 at Carol & Jerry Greenfield's back yard.

The VHS Class of 1956 along with their spouses and guests will gather for food and fun at the home of Mary (Hossman) Hansen on July 3 (Friday) from 5:00 PM-10:30 PM. It is a come-and-go event and is intended to be a relaxing time to visit and an option for those who just want to re-connect with friends. The class will also plan to eat together on Saturday evening at the All-Classes Dinner at the High School.

The Class of 1958 will be meeting on Friday, July 3rd, at 6:30 p.m. at the football field.

The Class of 1959 is planning their 50th class reunion as a get-together for July 4, 2009, from 1-4 p.m. at the Advent Christian Church in Villisca to allow alumni to be free to attend the all-class banquet in the evening. There will be h'ordevours with dips, coffee, tea and lemonade and lots of conversation. Cost is $20 or $25 for two. This will include the cost of a reunion booklet. Those who were classmates but did not graduate are welcome to attend. Go to the 50s decade page for additional information on this reunion.

The Classes of '61 and '64 will have a gathering at the home of Roger and Marsha Shepherd at 119 West High Street on July 3, at 5:00. They will be serving h'ordevours and snacks along with ice tea and lemonade. People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and if they want something else to drink, to bring their own. Guests are asked to park in the back. Alumns from the other classes of the 60s are invited to join the fun and conversation.

The Classes of '73 and '74 will have a joint casual get-together on Friday night, July 3rd, at the home of John and Denise Kernen, 701 South 7th Avenue. We will begin to gather there at 6:30. Please bring your choice of beverage. If you are coming from a local location please bring lawn chairs and a snack to share. The committee will have extra chairs there for those of you who are coming from a distance. . The Class of 1977 will have a “class party” on Friday, July 3rd at Bryce and Jeanne Franson’s garage starting at 7:00 p.m. Please bring your choice of beverage, a snack to share and lawn chairs.

The Class of 1978 will be holding a reunion Saturday, July 4th, 6:30pm - ?, at "The Bank" (SW corner of the square). Cost is $7 per person or $12 per couple. Hors d'oeuvres will be served as well as a cash bar. Classmates will also be meeting at "the bank" between 5:30pm and 5:45pm for those who want to walk as a class to the all school catered dinner at the high school.

Please note that this event is separate from the catered dinner and do not send RSVP's or payment to Karen for that. For the '78 reunion please make checks payable to "Villisca Class of 1978", Invitations have been sent out to all class of '78ers that we have addresses for but if you know of any that are not on the site please let us know. Classmates from other classes are welcome to attend though we would appreciate if you would chip in for hors d'oeuvres. If not the cash bar is open to everyone. Let's have fun and catch up!

The Class of 1979 will have our "30th Reunion-get together" on Saturday July 4th at Randy & Jona Nelson's home-(210 W. 1st street). Get together will start at 5:00. Please bring a your choice of beverage. If possible, bring a snack and lawn chairs. The Class of '86 will be having a reunion July 4 at 6:00 p.m. at Lisa (Rhamy) Kernen's house, 102 East First Street, Villisca. The Villisca Firemen will be grilling pork burgers in the park on July 4, 2009, from 5 - 8 with the proceeds to be donated to Tony Branan and his family to help defer medical expenses. It is suggested that everyone grab a burger, make a donation for Tony! and then head to the Kernen's.

The Class of '89 is planning their 20th Class Reunion at the Country Club on Sat., July 4, probably around 5 pm. More details to come.

The Class of ’99 will have their 10 Year Reunion on Saturday, July 4th, at 5pm at Adam and Julie Wainwright’s, 111 W. High Street – park in the back and enter from the alley. Bring food, grills will be available.

The Class of 2004 will hold their 5th Year Reunion at the home of Tiffany Taylor Becker's parent in Morton's Mill onSaturday July 4th from 3-7. Please bring beverages and food to grill

It may be tweeked a bit more but here is the design for the All-Class Reunion t-shirts. Created by Sawyer Johannes, it is a creative and unique design. He has tried to incorporate all that Villisca schools offer students both academically and in extra-curricular.

Friday, July 3
Registration, information and pre-ordered t-shirt pick-up in the City Park, from 10:00am to 6pm, and continuing on Sat from 8am to 4pm. Alumni will register according to the decade when they graduated.

Tee-Off at 10am "Bluejay Classic Golf Tournament" open to all - register at golf course. Food available at Club House - click here for more information on the 3rd Annual Tournament

Breakfast & lunch meals at D&D, Country Lane, Evie's Coffee Cup, Witch's Den, Villisca Foods Deli, Casey's

1:00 to 4:00pm School Tours - afternoon tours of the Middle and High School building and the Enarson Elementary building

1-6pm Villisca Armory open with activities

2:00 p.m. - The Circle 8 Square Dance Club from Clarinda will perform at the Armory with caller Dave Riley from Essex.

6:30pm Firemen & Chamber BBQ at football field. Sheila and Jay Johnson will be serving ice cream treats with proceeds going to a Villisca charity.

Chris Gibler will be on hand to liven up the night with music and his gift for gab and entertainment.

5:30 to 6:30 Cheer Clinic - The Villisca cheerleaders will be holding a cheer clinic at the football field for any interested child from pre-school age and up. The cost is $3.00 per child and they will learn two group cheers and then perform them at the talent show at 7 p.m. They will be the first to perform.

7:00 Talent Show at the football field ( in case of rain, talent show and Bluejay Hall of Fame activities will be high school gym)

8:00 Induction of first members of Bluejay Hall of Fame at the football field

Dusk - Fireworks - at the football field, rain or shine

Saturday, July 4
7:00-9:00am Pancake breakfast at the Senior Center, a fund raiser for the Center

10:00 to 2:00 - Country Music by Jim & Kathy Wymore and Friends in the Gazeboo in the Park

Food businesses & Food Booths available all day but not in the evening

12:30pm Hot Wheels & Big Wheel races, bring your own, participants up to 9 years old

1:30 Pedal Pull, tractor provided,

1:30p.m. Water fights with fire hoses (following Pedal Pull)

1:30 - Frog Pond School of Nodaway Township, Taylor County, Reunion of students, parents, teachers and friends in the southeast corner of the Villisca square

1 to 3pm - Former & Current Teacher/staff gather at Community Building to meet with students and community members

1 to 4pm - Garden Tours Free will donation, a fund raiser for the Villisca Library

1 to 4pm - "Feather Party" at VFW Hall

All Classes Catered Dinner beginning at 5:00pm, served by Villisca Foods
at the Villisca High School where decades and teachers/staff members will be served at staggered times, with open seating. The meal will be served in three air conditioned rooms and also in the gym. The menu will be choice of roast beef or smoked pork chops, baked potatoes, seasoned green beans, hot rolls, coleslaw, fruit salad and ice cream - reservations required

Firemen will have BBQ in park for those who do not choose the sit-down meal - bring lawn chairs

9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Street Dance. Music by the local DJ, Chris Gibler's "Ultimate Music" - they play a variety of music from Rock n Roll, Country, Blues, Jazz, Swing, & more

Sunday, July 3
Breakfast available at Country Lane, Evie's Coffee Cup and Witch's Den

10:00 a.m. Church in the Park - in case of rain, service will be in the Methodist Church

11:00 a.m. Advent Christian Church brunch at Community Center

10:00 a.m.Coed Soft Ball Tournament

2:00 - 5:00 p.m. - Chasing Daylinght Concert. A special event for our teenagers - at the Rialto. Chasing Daylight is a band from the Omaha and Western Iowa area

   

The third annual Blue Jay Classic, sponsored by VAFA, will be July 3rd, 2009 at the Villisca Golf Club. This is a 4 person best shot beginning at 10:00.

The organizing committee, chaired by Trisha Owen, are calling for individuals and individuals to organize teams to play in this fun event. Cost of a team will be $100.00. It could be fun if some VHS Classes would organize teams.

They are also asking businesses or classes to consider sponsoring a hole. The cost of being a hole sponsor is $50.00. This will be a great opportunity businesses to be recognized. The name of your business or the VHS Class will be placed at the tee off.

Cash prizes of $25.00 will be given for closest to the pin on numbers 4, & 9. There will also be a $25.00 cash prize given for the longest drive on number 3. Those who donate to this event will be recognized at the presentation following the tournament.
