Friday, July 1, 8 p.m. The Class of 1966 invited members of other '60s classes to join them at the American Legion Club for a pre-reunion gathering.
Saturday, July 2, 6 p.m. The Class of 1966 celebrated its 45th year reunion with a casual gathering.

There have been VHS Grads since 1884. Since 1983, Villiscans have relied on a small, locally published book to tell them in what year someone graduated from Villisca High School or to provide the name of a classmate’s sister, brother or cousin. The book, formally named “Villisca High School Graduates” although often jokingly referred to as the Class List Bible, was originally put together to celebrate the first 100 VHS graduating classes. It has been updated several times since, most recently in 2009 in preparation for the last All-School Reunion. Now, this local reference book has entered the digital age with a website dedicated to it: www.VHSgrads.com.
The electronic version, scanned from the originals, organized, updated, and turned into a website by VHS 1960 alumnus Jim Artlip of Hunt, Texas, provides two lists; one with all the classes by each year of graduation, similar to the paper version; the second and new list provides in alphabetical order the names, followed by the year of graduation, of all 4,506 VHS graduates in the 128 commencements from 1884-2011. The new list is a great help to those who know the last name of a graduate, but can’t remember either the first name or the year of graduation. Both lists are searchable for those who don’t want to scroll through the pages.
Linda Artlip Weinstein, VHS '66, and Barbara Kemery VHS '66 set out to create a history of Villisca schools and in that process, began looking for copies of The Volcano. The copies they have found and digitized can be found at www.VilliscaVolcano.com. Linda and Barbara continue to look for old copies. VAFA Mission Statement: The Association is a non-profit corporation committed to enhancing and supporting the educational (both academic and extra-curricular) facilities, programs and opportunities in the Villisca community. An effective public school system and ancillary educational opportunities are vital to small-town life.

Vision Statement:
The Association envisions that it will,
through the efforts of its volunteers:
1.
Renew and facilitate regular communications and establish relationships
with and among current and former students, faculty, administrators
and staff of the Villisca schools;
2. Encourage and invigorate community spirit and involvement to
aid the Villisca schools by enhancing a cooperative environment
with the general public through communication and involvement;
3. Enrich the cultural and social environment of the Villisca community
by implementing cultural and social events;
4. Promote and preserve the sense of community identity, history,
and spirit of the Villisca schools through regular Association activities;
5. Augment the resources of the Villisca schools by providing structure
for the donation of time, talent, and/or financial assistance;
6. Enhance the levels of achievement (academic and extra-curricular)
in the Villisca schools by providing enrichment opportunities for
students; and
7. Collaborate with officials of the public school system and other
public and private organizations in the Villisca community to coordinate
the efficient use of resources to achieve our mission.

3. Attract people to move to the Villisca community.
Contributions may be made to the VAFA general fund to help with the newest projects. VAFA is a 501(c)3 so all contributions are tax deductible
Annual memberships for VAFA are $25.; lifetime memberships are $500 or $750 for couples. Contributions may be sent to VAFA, P.O. Box 45, Villisca, IA 50864 or online from the Alumni Page on either www.villisca.com or www.villiscareview.com.
VAFA's funding comes through memberships, memorials and fundraisers such as the Annual Golf Classic held during Heritage Days.
For those whose employer is a part of the network of businesses that match the contributions of their employees to charitable organizations with the 501c3 designation, VAFA is now eligible to receive those contributions.
